 Unimicron reports highest profits in five quarters

PCB manufacturer Unimicron Technology has posted its highest profits in five quarters, buoyed by rising shipments of high-margin HDI PCBs for mobile devices. Unimicron reported net profits of NT$424 million (US$13.9 million) for the third quarter of 2014, up 67.6% on quarter and 4.4% on year. EPS for the quarter came to NT$0.28. Unimicron generated consolidated revenues of NT$16.48 billion, rising 9.2% sequentially and 4.8% from a year earlier. Gross margin stood at 11.18%, the highest in four quarters. For the fourth quarter, Unimicron forecast a sequential revenue dip due to lower production utilization rates.
