Taiwan market: BenQ occupies 14% of LCD monitor shipments

There will be an estimated 900,000 LCD monitors shipped in the Taiwan market in 2014 and BenQ expects a market share of 14%, with 85% of its shipments to be general-use models and 10-15% for special applications, according to the company. Due to focus on production of specialized monitors, BenQ expects to see a 37% on-year revenue increase from its monitor products and believes that pushing specialized products into the market will help it stay profitable as the monitor market is expected to further drop in 2014 in terms of overall shipments. Ultra HD monitors and newer models with increased eye protection features will also be a focus for BenQ in 2015, the company noted. Additionally, BenQ aims to release new curved wide-color gamut (WCG) Full HD TVs in 2015 and expects related sales to reach between 10,000-20,000 units. The company will focus on shipments of 65-inch units with NTSC 90%, said BenQ, adding that WCG units will make up 10% of the company's overall LCD TV sales in 2014, rising to 20% in 2015. BenQ also aims to further develop LCD TVs with added eye protection and estimates that Ultra HD TVs will reach a 5% penetration rate in the Taiwan market during 2014. -
