 Samsung developing new Ultra HD TV with 300 LEDs

Samsung Electronics is reportedly in the process of launching a new Ultra HD TV that will come equipped with a 300 LED direct-type LED backlit unit, according to supply chain sources. Samsung is developing the TV in order to meet expected demand for Ultra HD TVs in 2015. Samsung will use increased LEDs in addition to an improved color filter and local dimming technology to enhance resolution and overall color quality for the TVs, the sources said. Other vendors are also likely to adopt similar features in their new Ultra HD units along with wide color gamut (WCG) technology in order to combat OLED TVs in the high-end TV market, the sources added. The sources said they are optimistic that LED supply chains will benefit from such developments. -
