Production Woes in Japan, Korea Benefit Taiwan HDI Makers

Taiwan-based HDI board suppliers may land more orders at the expense of production issues at Japan- and Korea-based rivals, according to sources in Taiwan's HDI supply chain, as reported by Digitimes. Ibiden has scaled down its guidance for 2014 due to lower-than-expected yield and capacity utilization rates at its second factory in Malaysia. Semco, meanwhile, has reportedly seen its capacity utilization rate declining due to reduced orders from parent company Samsung Electronics. Taiwan-based HDI board suppliers, including Unimicron Technology, Compeq Manufacturing and Unitech Printed Circuit Board, have all reported sequential revenue gains for the third quarter. Others such as Zhen Ding Technology Holdings, Tripod Technology, Wus Printed Circuit Board, have also been performing relatively strongly recently, according to Digitimes.
