PCB maker Dynamic swings back to profitability in 1Q14 -
Rigid-flexible PCB maker Dynamic Electronics has reported net profits of NT$34.77 billion (US$1.16 million) for the first quarter of 2014, ending a five-quarter string of losses. First-quarter EPS stood at NT$0.12. Dynamic has also seen the shipment ratio of automotive boards as well as SSD and DRAM module boards gradually increase in 2014, contributing to improve profitability, according to company chairman Huang Ming-hung. Meanwhile, Dynamic has set aside a capex budget of NT$900 million for capacity ramps in 2014, Huang revealed. The company's plant in Kunshan, China currently has a production capacity of 2.7 million square feet of PCBs, including 2.5 million square feet of traditional PCBs and 200,000 square feet of HDI boards, Huang said, adding that the plant will focus on ramping up capacity for high-end HDI and server boards in 2014. Dynamic's plant in Taiwan currently has a capacity of 300,000 square feet, with rigid-flexible PCBs accounting for the bulk of production. The company will begin to ramp rigid-flexible PCB capacity by 50,000 square feet a month starting the third quarter. -
