PCB Segment to Lead Germany's Electronics Market
The 2013 German market for PCBs will grow by 1.3% to approximately 1.3 billion Euros. The semiconductor market is also growing by half a percent to 9.9 billion Euros, says Dr. Wolfgang Bochtler, chairman of ZVEI PCB and Electronic Systems. Only the market for integrated circuit layers will decrease slightly by 2% to 660 million Euros.
The electronic components market (in-house producers and EMS providers) should see an increase of 0.4% to 24 billion Euros. For the entire electronic components market (PCBs, integrated circuits, electromechanical and passive components, and semiconductors) ZVEI expects an increase of 0.3% to 16.7 billion Euros in 2013.
In 2012, the electronic components market rose by 4.9% to 16.62 billion Euros and the return for electronic assemblies rose by 4.5% to 23.9 billion Euros. Last year was marked by restraint due to the tensions in financial markets and the European debt crisis.
Dr. Bochtler nevertheless is optimistic: "Our industry can have many successes despite difficult market conditions. As always, companies provide a variety of application-specific innovations which are in demand worldwide."
